Email Coach Kelly
Energy, Passion and Commitment are the three characteristics that best describe Kelly Wissolik. Coach Kelly's passion for fitness and the sport of Triathlon is contagious and motivating. Her energy emanates throughout everything she does. As an Energy Fitness Coach, she is a tremendous source of information and inspiration to every one of her athletes.
Coach Kelly has various certifications in exercise and fitness. She is a Level 2 USA Triathlon Certified Coach, Alive with MissionMe Youth Triathlon Coach, a Mad Dogg Spinning Instructor, an AFAA Group Exercise Instructor, a WAKAI Aerobic Kickboxing Instructor, an AAAI and ISMA Mat Pilates Instructor, a Spencer Pilates and Sport Yoga Certified Instructor, a Healthy Mom's Perinatal Instructor and founder of Triathilates, a core conditioning program targeted specifically for athletes who primarily train in one plane of motion. Along with these various certifications, Kelly has been leading classes, clinics and camps in Chicago and Ohio for over 15 years. Her strongest attributes are her motivation, enthusiasm, dependability, reliability, dedication, determination and communication. She prides herself on helping athletes at any level of training obtain their personal health and fitness goals.
Throughout Coach Kel's childhood, she aspired to star in team sports like basketball and volleyball, but at 5'-1", volleyball and basketball were probably not her best choices.
However, she loved the hard work, camaraderie, teamwork and the challenge to improve each season. In college, Kelly found a new passion for group exercise and personal training. Kelly paid her way through college working full time teaching over 18 aerobics, Spinning, personal training and Pilates classes each week. She enjoyed the energy of the group classes and liked the team atmosphere she could create as the instructor.
After college Kelly moved to Chicago and met Rob Wissolik, who was a dedicated triathlete training vigorously to qualify for Ironman Hawaii. Kelly fell in love with Rob and made it her mission to help Rob achieve his goal. Together, Kelly and Rob started coaching athletes at various health clubs in downtown Chicago. In 2002, Rob qualified and completed Ironman Hawaii!!! His accomplishments inspired Kelly to learn to swim, compete in triathlons and make it to Kona too!! Kelly chose the 2005 season to begin her quest to qualify for Ironman Hawaii and sought the tutelage of various coaches. In her first season, Kelly successfully trained and raced qualifying for the World Championships at Ironman Canada in August that same year. She completed her mission by racing Ironman Hawaii in October 2005. She attributes much of her success to her coaches, especially Rob, her research, dedication, determination, and Periodization training.
Coach Kelly is an Elite Ironman Triathlete, 2X Ironman World Championship qualifier and professional coach. She qualified for the World Championships in Hawaii in her first season and again at Ironman Wisconsin 2007 by finishing in 11 hours. She holds numerous top age group finishes and the female amateur bike course record at Ironman Wisconsin.
Under the skillful guidance of Coach Rob, Kelly continues to improve dramatically. She successfully transfers the knowledge and skill she has learned from several great coaches at the Olympic Training Center and around the country, to her athletes and her own racing. The results speak for themselves.
Coach Kelly focuses on racing ½ Iron distance and full Iron distance triathlons. Through her racing and training experience, she has a unique ability to openly relate with her athletes by sharing common challenges competitors overcome along the path to success. Coach Kelly is truly "in the trenches" along with her athletes keeping up with the latest evolving racing and training techniques. Practicing what she preaches, Kelly will not recommend a workout regimen she isn't willing to do herself in preparation for top finishes in Iron distance competitions.
Although Coach Kel is taking a break from racing after the recent birth of her first child, she will be back.
Coach Kelly found her calling as a professional coach. She prides herself on being the best Coach she can be, and believes that with hard work and the right plan - anyone can achieve their dreams. Equipped with numerous certifications, extensive research, nearly two decades of successful coaching and race experience, she is sure to help you reach your peak!
