Fighting Childhood Obesity

Be inspired by Alive with MissionMe! Help children be fit, active and healthy!

Alive with MissionMe! (AMM), a not-for-profit organization [501(c)(3)] is committed to combating childhood obesity and putting the fun back into physical activity by developing in-school curricula and after-school programs to foster participation in MultiSport. AMM's curricula are aligned with the Physical Education Standards set by the National Association of Sports and Physical Education (NASPE) and are adapted to USA Triathlon competencies.

AMM's offerings are designed to address three primary goals that are fundamental to developing today's youth.

The first goal is to provide children of all fitness levels with an opportunity to experience running, swimming and biking…activities that are rewarding on many levels and that foster a lifetime of fitness and health. Many of today's youth lack opportunities to participate in such activities and Alive with MissionMe! allows children to participate at a level and pace appropriate to their individual fitness needs.

Second, our programs offer a sound solution for combating the continuing epidemic of obesity and related health issues facing young people today through a variety of fun, high energy activities designed to motivate children to adopt a physically active lifestyle that will continue through adulthood. The Institute of Medicine's recent report on Preventing Childhood Obesity advocates that schools provide opportunities for students to engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. Additionally, the report promotes creating or enhancing intramural sports and activity clubs and encourages walking or biking to school.

The third goal is to encourage a life-long commitment to fitness while promoting cognitive development and application. There is little more rewarding than seeing a student successfully utilize recently taught knowledge or skills in new and challenging situations. Participants in AMM's programs not only are encouraged to move, but also to examine how their bodies work and respond to a variety of exercises through various curriculum experiences.

Now is the time to introduce Alive with MissionMe!. In today's culture, too often the spotlight is on striving to become a gifted athlete. While athletic participation is important and beneficial, more focus is needed on how to become physically fit for a lifetime. Students must be encouraged to become active in a variety of ways, to understand the need for physical activity and to learn how to establish and monitor their own physical activity goals. Alive with MissionMe! targets the needs of today's youth…prepare yourself to begin the adventure.

Energy Fitness Coaching, LLC partners with Alive with MissionMe! to spread knowledge, fun and fitness to children around the country. Through camps, clinics, webinars and workshops, EFC is dedicated to helping kids, parents, teachers and coaches implement safe, fun and effective activities to ward off obesity and make physical fitness a life-long habit!
